William Stam passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 in Oakville, Ontario at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his beloved wife in 2020, Reinie (nee Spaans).
Bill was born on May 30, 1938 in the Netherlands and immigrated to Mattice, Ontario with his parents and siblings in 1952. He married Reinie in 1961 and raised his three children Ken, David, and Leanne in Burlington, Ontario, hauling cars for Auto Haul Away until he retired.
Bill loved to build and repair things, particularly at his and Reinie’s favourite home-away-from-home on Kamaniskeg Lake. He dearly loved his children Ken, Ken’s wife Dorothy, David, and Leanne. He was a beloved Opa to his grandchildren Madeline, Lauren, Hayden, Kevin, Comrie, Briar, and Jodan. You could always find him taking pictures of his grandkids at their sporting events or watching them, with a big smile, tube and waterski at the lake. He will be deeply missed by all of his and Reinie’s extended families.
A Memorial Gathering will take place at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line in Burlington on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 4–7pm.
If desired, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated by the family in lieu of flowers.
