Michael Strelbisky

June 5, 1928 – September 7, 2025

Passed peacefully with his family by his side at Joseph Brant Hospital on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the age of 97. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (Mae) (nee Milne). Loving father of the late Mary-Anne Freudiger (Paul), late Jenny Bush (Greg), Michael (Maria), Angela Fulford (Daniel), and Peter. Cherished grandfather of Amy, Sarah, Jesse, Mikayla, Alexandra, Aaron, Eli and Jacob and proud great grandfather of 10. Predeceased by his siblings.

While living in Ottawa, Mike played hockey with the Junior Senators and the Carleton College hockey team. Mike graduated from Queens University after turning down a hockey scholarship to Harvard. The former President of the Carleton College Economics Club, he went on to become the owner and President of A.H. Tallman Bronze Company, Limited after first working as a chartered accountant in Toronto. It was while working on an audit in Toronto that a beautiful, blue-eyed blonde caught his eye and he went on to marry the love of his life, Mae Milne. They later moved to Milton and then to Burlington where they raised their family.

Mike was an avid tennis player and enjoyed outdoor activities with his family. Both Mae and Mike were devout Catholics, very involved with the Church, and they were founding members of St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church. Mike was a very generous man to both his family and community, he served as a Burlington Separate School Board Trustee and a member of the Halton/Wentworth Board of Governors for the Catholic Separate School Board. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital for their care. Mike was known for his quick wit and gentle sense of humour; he was a true gentleman whose faith and family were the most important parts of his life. We were fortunate to have him in our lives for so long, he will be missed but never forgotten.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, 4072 New St., Burlington on Monday September 22 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Private interment will take place at a later date.

For those who wish, donations can be made in Mike’s honour to Joseph Brant Hospital or Good Shepherd would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
