VANCLIEF, William Thomas “Bill” Vanclief
April 29, 1948 - May 11, 2026
Passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Born on April 29, 1948, in Madoc, Bill was the beloved son of the late Audrey and Arnold Vanclief. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Arnold Vanclief Jr., and his sister Barbara Burry.
After the loss of his mother during his early teenage years, Bill was lovingly raised by his devoted aunt, Susan LaBarge, whose guidance and care helped shape the man he became.
In 1969, Bill began a distinguished 35-year career with the Toronto Metropolitan Police, retiring in 2004. In retirement, he continued serving others through his work with Community Care Durham, where he formed many lasting friendships, including a special friendship with Tracy Pantalleresco.
Bill shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Bonnie. Together they built a loving family and were proud parents to Christopher and his wife Kelly, and Kimberly Wallis and her husband Paul.
Bill was a devoted grandfather to Nikolas, Gabriella, Victoria, and Spencer, who brought immense joy and pride to both Bill and Bonnie.
Family meant everything to Bill. He shared a close lifelong bond with his cousins and their spouses: Steve (Joan), Al (Lyne), Armand (Denise), and Judy (Richard).
An avid golfer, Bill especially enjoyed his annual September golf trips with his cottage friends and his weekly rounds with the General Motors Parts League alongside his best friend Lloyd Proctor.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 10, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Whitby Legion.
In memory of Bill, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Canada.
Bill will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication to family, sense of humour, and the friendships he maintained throughout his life. Though he will be deeply missed, he will never be forgotten..
