VRIES, Barry Stuart de Vries

Passed away at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the age of 46.

Beloved son of Terry de Vries and Donna de Vries (née Code). Loving brother of Graham de Vries and Murray de Vries.

Barry will be lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles: Bram (Hilda), Bobby (Brenda), Wally (Deborah), Jeff (Leeanne), Barbie (Dave), and Darla (late Jim). He was predeceased by his aunt Suzie and his uncle Dwayne. He will also be greatly missed by Marva, Dwayne’s wife.

Cherished uncle of Justin de Vries and Brandon de Vries. Barry will be fondly remembered by his many cousins, extended family members, and friends. Left with a tremendous void are his close friends, Nicole and Derek Malcolm, along with many others whose lives he touched through his kindness and friendship.

Barry Stuart de Vries had a special love for animals and cherished the companionship of his many beloved pets throughout the years. He was predeceased by Patches, Mr. Spock, Matthew, Inuke, and Tommy. Left to miss him are Max, Katie, Hershey, and Sammy.

An artistic soul, Barry enjoyed drawing and painting and had a deep appreciation for animals, family, friends, and music.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the police officers, paramedics, Dr. Buxton, the Head Nurse, and all the staff at Renfrew Victoria Hospital, as well as the staff of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and Groves Park Lodge for their care and compassion.

Barry’s final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and again from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A funeral procession will then travel to Goshen Cemetery for a graveside service at 4:30 p.m.
