Carpenter SmithMaryCARPENTER SMITH, Mary Ruth   -  October 5, 1935 - July 29, 2022

Peacefully, in her 87th year, at her home on the shores of Georgian Bay in Port McNicoll, Ontario, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends.

Mary will be dearly missed by her sisters-in-law, Beverly Carpenter (nee Richards), Ruth Carpenter (nee O'Connell), Colleen Carpenter (nee Davis); and her many nieces and nephews.

Mary wa predeceased by her beloved husband, Douglas Raymond; her parents, Howard Leo Carpenter and Marguerite Elizabeth Dougherty; brothers James (Ruth), Donald, John, Howard (Beryl), Phillip, Bernard (Ria) and Charles; and sisters, Lillian (Ken), Norma and Ann.

Mary was a graduate of St. Michael's School of Nursing.

Mary's faith in God was unfailing.

She was a dedicated member of the Grail movement. Mary worked at The Catholic Children's Aid Society for 30 years. Mary's love and dedication to her dogs, past and present, was part of her love for all animals, and readily apparent to anyone she ever entertained at her home.

Special thanks to all the nieces, nephews, friends, the LHIN and the Bayshore palliative medical staff who helped Mary to pass away in her home. This was a monumental task and your dedication to Mary did not go unnoticed.

Please join her family at St. Joan of Arc Parish (1701 Bloor Street West, Toronto), on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 11 a.m.

Visitation will take place in the Church, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the parish hall.

For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to The Martyrs' Shrine of Midland, Ontario, Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto and The Ontario SPCA Midland & District Animal Care.
