RILEY, Joanne - April 4, 1935 - September 27, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Riley in Oakville on September 27, 2022.
Beloved wife of Dr. Terry Riley for 65 years, she had been in failing health for some time, but never lost her warmth and the sparkle in her smile.
Jo was born Joanne Meyer in Winnipeg, and came to Toronto in her early twenties, where she met her future husband.
After Terry's medical school graduation, they moved to Kitchener for his internship year before moving to Campbell River, BC, for seven years.
They then returned to Ontario, settling in Oakville in 1967.
Smart, funny and feisty, Jo overcame a significant hearing disability, resulting from measles at the age of four and became an expert lip reader.
She was a voracious reader, a canoeing and camping enthusiast and a lifelong dog lover, never without at least one or two canine pets at any given time.
The Riley's home was open and welcoming to a multitude of friends, colleagues and people in need.
Cremation will take place but no funeral will be held.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Oakville & Milton Humane Society would be appreciated.
