BUTTERS, Hugh William - 1938 - 2021 Predeceased by his parents, Nellie and Captain Frank Butters Master Mariner and beloved wife Carolea.
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Hugh, on March 8, 2021.
Born in Collingwood, October 24, 1938, Hugh lived a full and exciting life.
Hugh was Valedictorian of his graduating class and actively involved in the Church Choir.
Hugh's teaching career began in the Village of Kirkville and for two years he taught all grades in one room.
From there he went to Wilmington Public School in North York, where he met his future wife Carolea, and then spent over 20 years at St. Andrew's Junior High where Hugh made an indelible impression and formed some of his strongest friendships.

HANCOCK, Melvin "Mel" E. - 91, of Hudsonville, was born March 30, 1929, in Toronto, Ontario, and passed peacefully to his eternal home on March 8, 2021.
He was preceded in death his first wife, Mary Ellen; parents, Ernest and Nellie Hancock; dear daughter-in-law, Sharon Hancock; siblings, Isabel, Howard, Ruby, all of Ontario, Canada.
Melvin and Mary Ellen raised their two sons, Richard (Virginia) Hancock and Robert Hancock, and daughter Janice Hancock (and good friend Teresa Hellewell) in Canada and around the world, wherever his engineering projects with CN Railroad took them.
Retirement took him to Florida where, after Mary Ellen's passing, he met and married Norene De Kock-Lubbinge.

WOLWYN, Helen Christine - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen on March 8, 2021 at the age of 52, after a brave battle with cancer.
She died at home, with family at her side and her son, a gifted musician, comforting and serenading her with his soothing music.
Beloved wife and best friend of Nick for over 31 years and loving mother of Steven.
Predeceased by her mother, Violetta Kalmykow in December 2020, Helen will be lovingly remembered by her father, Mikolaj Kalmykow, brother Paul (Janet) as well as sisters Julie (Marek), Sandra (Craig) and the family’s faithful dog Mika.

FONTENELLE, Emmanuel "Manny" - Emmanuel was born on October 29, 1945 in Castries, Saint Lucia and passed away in Toronto on March 8, 2021 with his beloved sweetheart Catherine and daughter Lisa by his side.
He is survived by his wife Catherine, his children Andy, Lisa, Delphina and Fabian(Emma).
Along with seven grandchildren (Malcolm, Joceline, Karen, Cameron, Virtue, Wisdom and Precious), two great grandchildren (Amaya and Mitcheon) and sister-in-law Alcess(Rolland).

FRENCH, Donald Sydney - Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Donald Sydney French, passed on Monday, March 8, 2021, at the age of 90, peacefully in his home, with his family by his side.
Our father was the ultimate family man, caring friend and professional, Don was always trying to help others. Don is now with his wife Katharine Jean French who passed in 1977 after 22 years of marriage, never to remarry.
He was always happiest surrounded by his children, Katharine, Donna (Chris) and Douglas and daughter-in-law Ann.
The light of his life has been his grandchildren, Janine (James, Gavin, Liam, Mia), Jennifer, Lisa (Aaron), Vicki, Samantha and Rachel (Chantelle), and great-grandchildren Gabriella (Gabby), Brayden, Blake and Deshawn. Quality family time was the most important thing to our father and only on occasion would he shut off his hearing aids on purpose.

TOMLINSON, Ethel Estella - After a long and happy life, encompassing four generations, Ethel Tomlinson (nee Stone), passed away peacefully at Providence Healthcare, on March 8, 2021, at the age of 103.
Predeceased by Allan, her beloved husband of 65 years; her parents, Harry and Gertrude Stone, brother, Harry Stone (Margaret), and dear niece, Catherine.
Born May 18, 1918, in Toronto, Ethel will be forever missed by her daughters, Susan Lewis (David), Judith MacKay (Kenneth), niece, Linda Hodd (Stephen) and special neighbour, Bev Dodds.
A devoted grandmother to Amanda Robertson (Ian), Zachary MacKay (Laura), Alex Lewis (Kelly), Stephanie Hall (Seb) and eight great-grandchildren.
Ethel was actively involved with her church, especially Couples Club at Kew Beach United.

VANDERPLOEG, Jack A. - (July 28th, 1945 – March 7th, 2021) - With great sadness, we announce that Jack passed away at Southlake Regional Health Centre after suffering with cancer and Covid-19.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Kathy (née Heinemann), daughter Emily, son Jeffery (Kristin Himmelman) and grandchildren Poppy, Teddy, George, and Benjamin, and siblings Hank Vanderploeg, Rita Whelan, Peter Vanderploeg, Anne Dol, Sister Louise Vanderploeg, and Lou Vanderploeg, with whom, together with their parents, he arrived in Canada at Pier 21 from The Netherlands in 1952.
An Aurora resident for over 60 years, he was a keen athlete, playing golf, baseball, football, and hockey from his youth with the Aurora Tigers to the senior leagues with the Church Dodgers. He was a proud salesman and self-made businessman with a successful career that spanned over 40 years.

WICKSON, Raymond 'Ray' - (August 3, 1952 - March 7, 2021) - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ray Wickson.
Ray was a pioneer and leader in a quest for a cure for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. After being injured in a car accident in 1983, Ray dedicated his life to raising funds for spinal cord research. Ray was one of the early leaders of what is now known as the Canadian Spinal Research Organization and was in fact one of the early pioneers and advocates for finding a cure for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury.

HUGGINS, Mary Isabella (nee Barry) - Born into our lives on Thursday December 23, 1943, and ascended on her spiritual journey with God on Sunday March 7, 2021.

TORNEIRO, Ines Martins - With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother Inês Martins Torneiro. She went to be with her Saviour Jesus Crist on the early hours of the morning of March 7, 2021 at St Joseph’s Hospital, in Toronto at the age of 95.
Inês was born on January 27, 1926 at Feteiras do Sul, São Miguel-Açores to José Martins and Maria Terceira. Growing up Inês was an active member of her community. She loved to sing, dance, play the Portuguese guitar and participate on many school and church plays.
In 1944 she married João and became the proud mother and grandmother of 14 children, 38 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
