Birchall DavidBIRCHALL, David Frank, CD (LCOL RET'D)  After many years of determination and yes, some stubbornness against serious health issues, Frank slipped away early in the morning August 25, 2018 with his loving family gathered around the bedside.

Born in Smithers, BC to Reverend James and Jean Birchall, Frank's formative years were spent in Western Canada.

His family relocated to Scarborough, Ontario where Frank subsequently graduated from R.H. King Collegiate.

Frank fulfilled his dream of joining the RCAF in 1960. After graduation he and his family experienced many interesting postings, all of which he loved but his favourite by far was West Germany which was the pinnacle of his career, flying the CF 104 Starfighter.

His total flying experiences exceeded 10,000 hours. He holds the Queen's Jubilee Medal and Canadian Forces Decoration with 2 clasps.

Frank leaves his loving wife, Helen, proud daughter and son, Sandy (Mike) and Jim. He was so proud of and adored his two grandchildren, Taylor and Holly. He also leaves behind his best friend and brother Rod (Ardie) and his nieces and nephews. His gentle but vibrant personality and love for his fellow man earned him the moniker "Hi, I'm Frank" which followed him throughout his years in the Military.

Frank and his family wish to sincerely thank all the Medical staff at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, the Belleville Hospital and its caring staff and the CCAC in both Peterborough and Belleville. There simply are no words to adequately express our appreciation for all the kindnesses, compassion and caring support shown us. Many thanks to all the friends and family for their loyalty and continual support as well.

The EMS and FIRE were always so professional and kind. We are in awe of their expertise and care in such a dangerous and sometimes thankless job. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local humane society. True to Frank's nature, a smile or good deed to someone who could use one would be a wonderful gesture to honour Frank's memory.

A Celebration of Life for Frank will be held on September 23rd from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Trenton, Ontario.

Please come dressed casually and bring along some happy memories of a great guy!!

THE PLANE'S ENGINES ARE SILENT NOW THE HANGAR DOORS ARE CLOSED OUR BELOVED FRANK HAS GONE HOME Tiger Tiger.... ROAR.
