McILVENNA, Mary (Mollie) (nee TELFORD)   - 1926 - 2018  Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

Beloved and devoted wife of John for 68 years, she is survived by her sisters Nellie (Bertie) and Jean, Ballymena, Northern Ireland.

Mollie knew how to make a house a home.

From the minute she and John moved into their home in Scarborough over 60 years ago, it was always inviting and ready for guests to drop in and feel welcome.

When her Canadian nieces and nephews (Darrell, Erin and Cameron) began to come along, she convinced John to put a pool in the backyard and they couldn't even swim but three years of swimming lessons and countless birthdays, Canada Days and BBQ's later, she used it to be a surrogate grandma of sorts that was there for the next generation of kids (Charlotte, Eli, Lola, Finley and Poppy) to jump in the deep end. Mollie knew how to make friends into long-lasting friendships.

Mollie will always be remembered as a loving wife, aunt and a loyal friend who invested in her interests and her communities with time and an open heart.

She was a light that made everything else shine a little brighter and made us all a little warmer.

Visitation at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Avenue East, on Thursday, October 11th, from Noon until the time of the Memorial Service in our Chapel at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mollie's name may be made to North York General Hospital.
