Nolan WalterNOLAN, (Bertram) Walter - (1948 - 2018) - Walter was born to Helen and Bert Nolan in Toronto.

Throughout his life he was a loving brother to Anne (predeceased), Elsie, Kathy (Kim) and Marg (Pat).

At the University of Guelph he met Nancy whom he married in Ottawa in 1978.

With the birth of their daughter Anne Elizabeth he became a proud and adoring father.

In 2016, he was delighted to welcome Andrew Scherkus to the family as his son-in-law.

Family was always core to his life and he was a supportive uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He took pleasure in joyful interactions with the younger generations. Walt enjoyed a lifetime of friendships... in the early days at Continental Can, as a United Steelworker, at leisure on the golf course or at a concert; he formed strong connections with people. He was fun-loving, quick-witted, curious, personable and charismatic; an original who will be deeply missed.

After living with a challenging illness, Walter died at Hill House Hospice on October 18, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He never allowed his health issues to diminish his enjoyment of life.

The Nolans appreciate the compassionate care provided to Walter during his lengthy illness. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Hill House Hospice, Richmond Hill and/or the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation with funds directed to lung cancer research.

A Celebration of Walter's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 27th at L'Arche Daybreak, 11339 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill. A reception will follow to allow us time to reminisce.
