SHISKO, Elizabeth Rose 'Betty' - It is with heavy hearts that the family wishes to announce the passing of Betty Shisko on December 8, 2018, at Silverthorn Care Community (formerly Specialty Care), Mississauga, ON. Following a 9-year progressive illness, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her 83rd year. She will always be remembered for her kindness and smile.

Betty was an Elliot Lake resident from 1957 to 2010 and was previously an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 561.

Betty was the wife of the late Roger Shisko (deceased in 2004) and loving sister and sister in law to Maurice and Della Groulx of North Bay.

She was pre-deceased by her daughter Christine Hamilton (Bob) and step son Michael Shisko, Elliot Lake.

She will be greatly missed by her 4 surviving children, including Danny (Anne) Shisko of Goderich, Deborah (Marty) Gatrick of NSW, Australia, Judy Shisko of Elliot Lake and Kathy Shisko-Bisson (James) of Mississauga, ON.

She will also be fondly remembered by Derek and Mary Jo Dool of Thunder Bay, ON.

Betty will be remembered as a loving grandmother to 7 grandchildren including Jason Hamilton of Elliot Lake, Jamie Krawec (Cindy) of Brampton, Sean Krawec of Guelph, Dustin Shisko (deceased), Rebekah Kielek Shisko of Stratford, Christopher and Kassandra Bisson of Mississauga. She was also a great-grandmother to Sawyer & Jaxon Hamilton.

A special thanks to all the wonderful nurses and staff at Silverthorn Care Community (Mississauga) for the care provided to her over the last 5 years.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Woodlands Cemetery, followed by a “Celebration of her life” at Hampton Inn, Maple Room, Elliot Lake, ON.
