PANETTIERI, Giovanni Salvatore  -  With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Giovanni Panettieri on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the age of 93.

Beloved and devoted husband to Carmela Panettieri for almost 70 years of marriage.

Loving father of Maria Stramaglia (John), Nicola Panettieri and Lucy Deconcilys (Ron). Cherished grandfather to Robert (Nadia), Michelle (Daniel), Stephanie (Joe) and Renee (Frank) and great-grandfather to Madeleine, Julianne, Luke, Noah, Jacob, Gianluca and Charlie.

Giovanni travelled to Canada in March of 1959 in order to provide a better life for his family. His wife and children followed thereinafter and called Canada home. Giovanni was hard working and loved spending time with people and always had a smile on his face. He was a story teller; especially to his grandchildren whom he loved doting over. He was also an avid gardener and outdoorsman. His contagious smile and happy-go-lucky nature will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his brother, sister’s family and friends.

Visitation will take place at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Friday from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church (100 Bainbridge Avenue, Woodbridge) on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 9:30 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or Sick Kids Fund (Hospital for Sick Children) would be appreciated.
