Tynes MauraTYNES, Maura Mary Catherine - Made her peaceful transition October 29, 2019, at the Princess Margaret Hospital, at the age of 63.

Beloved daughter of the late Aaron Tynes and Laura Tynes (nee Bush).

Maura was born at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital, and at the tender age of 3 ½ the family moved to Toronto.

She was predeceased by her father, son Nathan and brother David.

She is survived by her mother Laura, grandchildren Dylan, Shayla, Aaliyah, Emily, and Kyanna, great-grand-daughter Wynter, brother Michael Drummond, and niece and nephews.

Maura was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church, an avid Church choir member, serving on many different committees over the years. Maura spent 6 years volunteering with the TC3, Toronto Children’s Concert Choir & Performing Arts Company. Maura was deeply involved with her Mi’Kmaq heritage, and was involved in the Women’s drumming, MMIW, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, ONMA, Ontario, Native Women’s Association, Water Walk, OSHKAGOON Indigenous Women’s lodge and URBAN Indigenous Grassroots Community of Tkaronto.

You will be greatly missed, treasured daughter, sister, auntie, Mi’Kmaq Grandmother, Elder, Early Rising Woman. We love you.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and observers who took such good care of her.

Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, Bathurst Chapel, Toronto on November 03, 2019 from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM and at the First Baptist Church, 101 Huron St. Toronto on November 4, 2019 from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM. The service will follow at 11:30 AM.

Children and youth held a special place in Maura’s heart. Flowers may be sent to: First Baptist Church, 101 Huron St., Toronto. St., M5T 2A9 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ENAGB Youth Program. ncct.on.ca.
