Wells InezWELLS, Inez - Inez Wells, of Scarborough, ON passed away in the early hours of November 12th, 2019.

Survived by brothers Max & Ivan & two sons John & Richard. Predeceased sister Sylvia Ruth & son Augustus (Gus) Wells. Inez had three grandsons, four granddaughters, seven great grandsons, three great granddaughters & one great great grandson & was aunt to four nieces & four nephews.

With little education and great determination, one of her first jobs as a young girl was a house cleaner and cook for a doctor and his family. Later she married the love of her life Albert Wells, and eventually opened a small variety store out of her home; thereafter moving to Ontario.

Her greatest pleasures included listening to music (and occasionally singing when the mood was right), making flower arrangements to give to others and cooking/baking. Cooking and baking usually meant cooking enough for an army… when baking bread meant using up a 20lb bag of flour in one run to make 24-30 pans of bread at a time and mixing/kneading it all by hand – there were no mixers in those days.

In her early years, Inez had a passion for playing bingo and would not let her being completely blind get in the way of that joy, so she memorized her cards and would play regularly at the Knights of Columbus or the Kingsway in Toronto; often playing 24 cards at a time!

Inez will be dearly missed but her passion, and compassion for those less fortunate will live on through her family.

A private family burial will take place to lay her ashes along with those of her sister’s (Sylvia Ruth) on November 21, 2019.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any one of the following charities: Heart&Stroke Foundation, Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements with Giffen-Mack funeral home, Scarborough.

“We shall gather in your name and place you to rest, holding you in our hearts forever dear. Knowing you are but a heart beat away, always with us through the days to come until we meet once more, know too that where you go, we soon shall follow to open Heaven’s doors, where once again we shall laugh and sing. While we pray and here we stand, in his name and yours, know in your heart God waits to hold your hand.”
