Homewood StevenHOMEWOOD, Steven Philip - (January 15, 1951 - April 3, 2020) - Passed away very peacefully in his Oakville home.

He died exactly how he lived his life: with courage and strength.

Predeceased by his parents Raymond and Betty Homewood, proud and loving father of Jason (Grace), Cole (Bonnie) and Sydney (Chris), caring grandpa to Cael, Orla, Johnson and Robyn.

Dearly missed by his sister Susan (Art) and remembered always with love by his wife Janet.

Steven was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario, lived as a young boy in Peterborough and then moved to Kingston with his family. He worked at Northern Telecom after college, working his way up from the factory floor. After his first marriage to Cathy, the mother of his two boys, Jason and Cole, ended, he went to Queen’s University part time while working full time. It was there he met his second wife, Janet of 35 years. He later worked for Philip’s Cables in Brockville, Best Foods in Cardinal, Montreal and Calgary and ended his career working at G.E. Shnier, in Calgary and Toronto.

A gift of later life was his daughter, Sydney, who got to have a stay at home dad in her teenage years. He was always delighted and happy to be “the dad and grandpa who could”; volunteering, driving and cheering on their sports, music and other activities.

A proud, strong and loyal friend and colleague he will be remembered by all who knew him for his wit, humour and love of a good yarn. He spent many happy days shredding up the slopes and cruising “the River” with close friends and family. He showed us all how to live life to the full and not let adversity rule your world. His long struggle with multiple myeloma inspired others with his courage and will to live.

My darling, you took the Long Way Home, living your life to the max, with grace and dignity to the end.

Arrangements entrusted with Ridley Funeral Home, Etobicoke.

Donations to Princess Margaret Hospital in his memory will be appreciated. https://thepmcf.ca/Donate-Now?utm_source=pmcc&utm_medium=uhn-site&utm_campaign=donate
