Anagnostakos PetrosANAGNOSTAKOS, Petros - (July 21, 1940September 16, 2020) -

Petros Anagnostakos was born in 1940 in the town of Krokees Laconia, Greece.

As a teenager he laboured from dawn to dusk on the orchid farms in Krokees. This was poverty-stricken post WWII Greece and he had to work hard to help support his mom, dad and his two siblings.

He supplemented his farming wages by going for days into the mountains of Laconia catching and taming wild mustangs which he would sell to local farmers as plow horses. This was dangerous work that was equal parts, muscle, courage, and horse whispering skills.

This picture was taken by an American tourist of him as a 16-year-old bringing a horse into town for sale.

In his late twenties working in a brick factory he met and fell in love instantly to his wife of 53 years Stella Giokas. They had two children Leonidas and Kostantina. With young kids and one suitcase they immigrated in Canada in the early 70’s where his work ethic was rewarded, and he made a comfortable life for his family.

His world was transformed when his children gave him grandchildren and would always tell us that after his grandchildren arrived, he had everything a man could want, and God could take him any time, a happy man. He would enjoy 25 years with his grandchildren, Irene, Stilina, Stevie, Petros and Christina.

A loyal friend, supportive parent and husband and a loving and nurturing grandparent, he is the strongest man we will ever know. But time is stronger and he quietly passed away on September 16th, 2020 at home on his farm in Aurora, Ontario Canada surrounded by his family. Arrangements with Thompson funeral home, Aurora.
