Deakin DerekDEAKIN, Derek John  - Passed away peacefully on September 18, 2020 in his 87th year, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Loving husband for 64 years of Brenda Deakin. Beloved father of Ian (Lisa) and Kevin (Christine). Proud Grandfather of Stephanie (Neil), Heather (Sam), Chelsea (Kevin) and Sean (Samantha).

Dear son of the late John “Jack” and Jenny Deakin. Brother of the late Averil Cooper. Uncle of Margaret Cooper and Miles Cooper.

Born in England, Derek served overseas in the R.A.F. 114 Squadron, Transport Command in the early 1950s. In 1966, Derek with his wife and sons, emigrated to Canada where he worked as an Engineer and Project Manager at Honeywell.

Derek loved to read and tinker with engines and boats and his scientific mind was always curious. He was loved by friends and family for his devotion and sense of humour.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Southlake Village.

At Derek’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life in May 2021.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada. Arrangements with Roadhouse and Rose funeral home, Newmarket.
