ANTHONIPILLAI, Anthony Joseph - It is with great sadness that the family of Anthony Anthonipillai announces his passing on Saturday November 28, 2020 at the age of 80 years.
Known to many who loved him as Thavam Chinnaiah, he was born on January 5, 1940 and raised in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He emigrated in the early eighties, and a couple of years later was joined by his family in Toronto, Canada.
Anthony will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Theres Kanickaie “Baby” and his children Desmond (Cynthia), Silverina (Sheshan) and Godwin (Venila). His memory will be cherished by his six grandchildren, Ethan, Tristan, Mitchel, Amayah, Nicholas and Aria.
A retired Tamil/Sinhala/English gazetted Sri Lankan Interpreter/Translator and accredited with the Canada Immigration and Refugee Board, Ministry of the Attorney General.
He loved spending time with his family, enjoying good food, listening to baila music and sharing his knowledge of idioms and proverbs. Anthony lived a full life and put family, faith and friendship first. Above all, he was a kind gentle man full of integrity and honor. It will be impossible for us to forget a man who gave us so many memories.
Arrangements with Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham. The service will take place at St Thomas the Apostle, 14 Highgate Drive, Markham on Saturday, December 5th, 2020 at 10:30am followed by interment.
