Goldberger InesGOLDBERGER, Ines - With great sadness we announce the passing of Ines Goldberger on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 88 years of age.

She was devoted to her family, sons Robert (Linda) of Toronto and Ronald (Marisa) of Calgary and as Granny to her grandchildren Rachel, Richard, Julia and Tessa. She always did everything she could to be a loving mother and grandmother.

Born in Romania, she was taken with her parents and brother to Auschwitz at the age of twelve.

When she was liberated from the camp one year later, she was a Holocaust survivor and an orphan.

This caused her to move to other parts of Europe and South America to be with relatives. In 1956 she moved to Canada not knowing how to speak English. She came with her husband Rene and they built a life together, living first in Toronto, then Oakville, the U.S., Montreal and Ottawa.

She came back to Toronto by herself in 1996 and began an active independent life. She travelled a great deal all over the world but always made time for an annual Orlando trip with Bob, Linda and Rachel. Every December she would visit Ron and Marisa and their children Richard, Julia and Tessa in Calgary.

Ines was a wonderful person and nice to everybody. Her family meant everything to her. While we will miss her dearly, she leaves us with many great memories of time spent together.

We thank the Senior Health Centre staff for their tremendous care over the last five years. We would also like to thank Dr. Nancy Song, Dr. Amanda Rosenblum and the medical team at North York General Hospital for their professionalism and support.

A funeral will take place on Monday, December 28, 2020
