WHITE, Hewitt (Eric) Nathaniel - Hewitt (Eric) Nathaniel White was born in St. Mary, Jamaica, on June 3, 1932, and passed away in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on January 13, 2021.
Hewitt, a talented, charismatic, spiritual leader and family man was bitten by the travel bug, which would take him to several countries. He travelled extensively both as a civilian and during his time in the Royal Army Service Corps.
His passion for photography ultimately led him to study and graduate from the New York Institute of Photography. He then travelled back to England, where he had served in the British Army and worked as a welder before moving onto Canada.
To develop a greater understanding of his new home in Toronto, he became a licensed cab driver. He enhanced his welding skills by graduating from George Brown College with a degree in welding and architecture. While working as a welder, he created a studio and worked part-time, as a wedding photographer.
Always a man of faith, his commitment to God was manifested by his involvement in St. Clair Avenue Baptist Church. He became a Deacon and a pivotal member in his and the church community.
In June of 1984, he married the love of his life, Winnifred. Their 37-year marriage was brought to an end by his unexpected death. An energetic, protective, loving husband and father, he endured a slow decline in his health due to Alzheimer's.
During the first five years of his illness, he was lovingly cared for at home by Winnifred. When he transferred to Baycrest, Winnifred continued to ensure he was lovingly cared for by visiting him twice a week, doing his laundry, and bringing him home-cooked meals.
Hewitt is the beloved husband of Winnifred. He is the loving Father of Delroy, Maria, Andrew, and Prince. Cherished Grandfather of Aaron. Father-in-law of Victoria He leaves behind his siblings: Ezra (Timo) Daisy, Patrick, Earl, Jean, Clifford, (Lee) Leroy (Lynval) Fred, Iviline (Blossom) Ken, and their children.
He will be deeply missed, loved, and forever remembered by Claud, The Taylor family, The James Family, The brothers, sisters, and Deacons of St. Clair Avenue Baptist Church, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The White family appreciates your gestures of sympathy and words of condolences at this difficult time. Due to the current COVID – 19 restrictions, the visitation, funeral service, and the interment will remain private for the family only.
