SALMON, Ruel Valentine - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruel on February 10, 2021 due to complications from a recent illness, at the age of 80.
Ruel was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica to Ivet Knight; the eldest of her five children.
As a young man, Ruel immigrated to the United Kingdom where he spent a number of years before immigrating to Canada in 1975.
Ruel worked as a dedicated employee of Gentry Knitting Mills in Scarborough through until his retirement. It was a job he loved and, along the way, he met many great people; all of whom loved him dearly.
Ruel was a true sports fan; watching cricket matches both locally and abroad and he fanatically watched baseball games on television and at the SkyDome (now known as the Rogers Centre). Ruel was also an avid reader, and he loved spending quality time going for daily walks. Above all, he loved spending quality time with his family.
Ruel will be extremely missed by his children - Tanya and Howard (Kim), his grandchildren - Qalyl, Nayema, Soraia and Clara, his siblings, his cousins and his great friends.
Please join Ruel’s family on Saturday, February 20th, starting at 1:30 p.m. for the livestream funeral service through Chapel Ridge Funeral Home.
