Wong AndrewWONG, Andrew Hoi Che - Passed away at home on Friday, February 26, 2021 with his family by his side.

Andrew leaves behind two daughters, Andrea (Michael) and Melissa, whom he shared with Amy Wong, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth.

He will be greatly missed by his sisters Helen (John) and Winnie, his brothers Hoi Li and Hoi Chun (Mei Ling), and a large extended family.

Andrew was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jee Heung Hoi, his father, Chuen Yee, and his sisters Stella and Ann.

Born in Shanghai on Confucius’ birthday, he immigrated to Canada on March 31st, 1968 after living in Hong Kong for part of his childhood.

Without a doubt, Andrew’s greatest pride and joy was his two year-old granddaughter Ellie.

It was Andrew’s wish to spend his final days in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones, and a devoted caregiving team of family and friends worked tirelessly to fulfill that wish.

In his last days, he leaned on his faith in Jesus in his suffering and sought refuge in God’s word. In his home, the words of Psalm 46 provided comfort, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

He passed away peacefully in his sleep, holding his daughter’s hand. His family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love, and support, and believe that it sustained Andrew in his time of need.

In lieu of flowers, the Wong family would appreciate donations to the Caring for Ontario Hospitals foundation, which Andrew recently established to continue his and his mother’s legacy of generosity. The family would also be grateful for donations to the Toronto Chinese Community Church.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the visitation and funeral service will be private by invitation only through the family.
