Lougheed CraigLOUGHEED, Craig Samuel - Passed away at age 97 in Toronto on March 1, 2021.

Craig was born and raised with his older brother Murray on a farm on Blue Mountain near Collingwood, Ontario. After attending Normal School, he taught for two years in a one room school before pursuing his career in education with the Scarborough Board of Education, ultimately becoming a Superintendent of Student and Community Services.

Craig met his future wife at a church social in Toronto while she was still in medical school. For 70 years he was the husband (“Craigie”) of Jeva, who predeceased him in 2015. Together they had eight children: Mary-Lynne (Bill), Brandon (Eileen), Alice-Anne (Ken), Stephenson (Diane), Lawrence (Beth), Kevin (Denise), Neal (Sandra), and Heather. They had 24 grandchildren and many more great grandchildren.

Retiring after 35 years with the Scarborough Board of Education, Craig then served three years as a fundraiser for Yonge Street Mission and then seven years as Administrator of Nisbet Lodge, a Home for Seniors in Toronto.

Craig’s greatest love was for his Lord. He served in many capacities at Calvary Church for over 70 years and was an Elder for 50 years. He spearheaded the vision for McClintock Manor and also served on many mission boards.

He deeply cherished his wife and family. He will always be fondly remembered by his children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren for summer food and fun at Lowlands, the family cottage on Scugog Island.

Dad, Opa, Uncle Craig: you are now HOME.

A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted with Trull funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Calvary Church, 746 Pape Ave. Toronto M4K 3S7 or The Nisbet Lodge-McClintock Manor Foundation 740 Pape Ave. Toronto M4K 3S7
