JONES, Wilfred Norman 'Norm' - (August 26, 1930 – May 14, 2021) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our father Wilfred Norman Jones. Our dad leaves us in his 90th year, ending a life well lived.
Reunited with his predeceased wife, Elizabeth (Betty 1982) and later in life companion Ida Bell.
He will be sadly missed by his three children, Douglas (departed Ruth), Darrell (Suzanne) and Karin (Keith Thomson). Our dad was one of those people everyone liked. He was genuine, honest and kind. We are proud and privileged to have been his children.
Wilfred was a proud grandfather to Michael, Logan, Daniel, Steffanie, Mitchell, Kayleigh, Andrew and Jessica. He was a great grandfather to Kianna and RJ. His grandchildren will always remember him attending their various sporting events, school productions, family celebrations and weekends at the cottage. He was a fun grandfather who always made you feel loved.
Known to most people as Norm. Wilfred grew up in Toronto as one of nine children; George, Art, Bob, Tom, Walt, Sarah, Ann and Muriel. He enjoyed entertaining others with tales of the trouble he and his brothers would get into as kids. The fun did not stop there as Norm and his brother and sister chose to have family cottages together in Campbellford, Ontario. A destination tradition that continues to this day. His only living sister Muriel Gibson and his many nieces and nephews will fondly miss Norm.
A jack-of-all-trades and a master of many. Norm was good with his hands. He was a talented artist. He designed and built his cottage from reclaimed wood. Norm did not like to sit still. He always had a project on the go and was the first guy to show up if you needed a new roof, a new fence or something fixed.
Now reunited with his predeceased brothers and brothers-in-law, we can picture them all discussing plans to fix something “up there."
We are grateful to the staff and residents of Douglas Crossing Retirement Home in Uxbridge. After living in Scarborough for over 65 years, our dad enjoyed the social atmosphere of Douglas Crossing. Your dedicated, professionalism and friendship has meant a great deal to our family.
Due to the current Stay at Home Order surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19, a private family service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted with Jerrett funeral home, Scarborough.
