GORA, John Leonard Zigmund - John Gora died peacefully, in hospital on February 16, 2023, at the tender age of 97.
Born on Manning Avenue, John was a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, practising law for over 50 years.
He was proud of his Polish heritage and knew where to get the best kielbasa.
He loved life and had many talents, from academics to music (piano, accordion and harmonica) to sports (handball, squash, racquetball, running, golf and rowing).
In his 70s, he went on an ocean kayaking trip and kayaking became his great passion. He paddled for hours at a time in Lake Ontario into his 90s, and in the end, envisioned paddling into the stream of evening sunlight on the water. Paddle on, John.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 75 years, Stella; his sons, John (Freda) and Michael; his daughter, Carolyn; and by his dearly cherished granddaughter, Sasha (Toby).
The family is planning a private gathering in the summer by the water.
