HICKS, Daniel Bruce  -

December 11, 1959 – May 26, 2023

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Daniel Bruce Hicks (Dan) on May 26, 2023.

Dan grew up in the Beach neighbourhood of Toronto where he attended Williamson Road Public School, Glen Ames Senior Public School and Malvern Collegiate Institute.

After a professional career with the Canadian Armed Forces in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Danny took an early retirement and returned to Ontario where he took up birdwatching, collecting scale model replica air planes/trains, and continued as a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. At his side was his sweet bird "Jackson".

Dan was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary-Lou (Manning) Hicks; his nephew, Ryan Hicks (Brian); and sister-in-law, Dawn Hicks (Smith).

Dan is survived by his siblings, Sandra (Cooper), Brian (Dawn Hicks) and Rosalind (Lance Johnston); and missed by his nieces and nephews, Morgan (Nathan Walker), Amelia Hicks, Kaleigh-Anne Daley (Justin Daley), Sarah Thompson (Adam Thompson), Jeremy Johnston (Courtney Carr), Alex Bartsch (Jessica Mitchell), Emily Bartsch, Annika Bartsch; as well as great-nieces and nephews, Livia and Owen Walker and Sloane and Koa Daley.

Danny will be laid to rest on Saturday, July 8th at 2 p.m., in Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to CAMH at his bequest.
