APPLEBAUM, Allan  - On the evening of December 12, 2023, Alan passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Alan was a devoted husband of more than 50 years to Rona; loving father and father-in-law to Michael and Zena, Lauren, Adam and Lindsay; dear brother and brother-in-law to Evie and Allen Collins, and Stephen and Karen Applebaum; and the most doting Zaida to Massey, Parker, Brody and Ryder.

There was never a baseball game, hockey game, holiday concert or performance that he missed.

He was a special nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Always thinking of others, Alan was a strong leader and volunteer with the Jewish community, as past president of Adath Israel Congregation, Bathurst Lawn Cemetery and Tanenbaum CHAT, and his tireless work with Jewish Cemeteries Management (JCMI).

His love for helping people was evident in his success in the insurance business as well, where he became a friend and mentor to his employees, industry colleagues, and clients. Everyone who knew him knows he could get lost in conversation with anyone who was up for it.

Special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Humber River Regional Hospital's ICU for their care and patience with Alan over the past week, and to Cantor Alex Stein for his guidance and support.

At Adath Israel Synagogue, 37 Southborne Ave., Toronto (1 Street north of Wilson, east of Bathurst), for service on Thursday, December 14th at 1:00 p.m. Interment in the Adath Israel Synagogue section of Bathurst Lawn.

Memorial donations may be made to Beit Halochem Canada - Disabled Veterans of Israel.
