Tanner GabriellaTANNER, Gabriella  - Died peacefully through MAID on December 22, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.

Born March 10, 1948 in Budapest, Hungary to the late Anton and Alice Elsass (née Hernfeld), Gaby was among the generation of Hungarians who left their country following the 1956 revolution.

She and her parents settled initially in Montreal before finding their permanent home in Toronto.

A fierce Canadian, she was deeply proud of her adopted country.

Joining CP Air in 1969 as a flight attendant, Gaby travelled the world.

Gaby met her devoted husband James Tanner in 1976. They married in 1979 and raised two children, Samantha and Anthony, together.

Sharing a passion for travel, many wonderful friendships and a fierce sense of independence, their love and partnership endured for 44 years. Gaby's many dedicated friends provided joy and companionship throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; and two children, Samantha (Dave) and Anthony (Kyle).

The family are grateful to the staff at Humber River Hospital who cared for Gaby in her final days and helped her to a peaceful end on her own terms.

As with all her challenges in life, Gaby faced her final battle with cancer with bravery and determination.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
