Bibby MargaretBIBBY, Margaret (nee HUGHES)   -

1932 - 2023

Loving aunt to Karyn (Garrett) and Kelly (Ian). Great great-aunt to Matteo, Mia, Eva, Katie and Bridget.

Beloved sister and best friend of the late Elizabeth Harrison. Adored daughter of the late Elizabeth Hughes.

Margaret spent her entire career at Bell Canada, beginning as an operator and working her way up to become a Manager at Operator Services.

Her nieces always loved how she got dressed up and wore high heels to work every day.

Margaret had a wonderful sense of adventure and a willingness to try new things.

She loved to travel and see new places. She also had a love of history and spent many Saturdays with her sister, Elizabeth, and their friend, Rita, laughing and antiquing together.

Later in life, Margaret enjoyed reading mysteries and thrillers and trying many creative outlets such as painting, cross stitch, and knitting. She loved watching cooking shows and trying new recipes.

During her lifetime, Margaret battled six different cancers and survived all of them. She loved life and took whatever treatment was offered to her.

A true urbanite, she took public transit to most of her treatments. She was the toughest little bird we have ever met.

The family would like to offer our thanks to the staff at North York General Hospital for their compassionate care during her hospitalization, the excellent staff at Sunnybrook for their years of care during her cancer treatments, and the staff and residents of Delmanor Northtown for making her feel so welcome there.

Auntie Marg is dearly missed by her nieces and their families.

Those wishing to remember her are invited to make a donation in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
