Doe GilbertDOE, Gilbert Kent  -

March 5, 1937 - January 31, 2024

 

Gilbert Kent Doe (Kent) of Halifax, died peacefully, embraced by love, at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, on January 31, 2024, in his 87th year.

 

Kent is survived by his dear Sarah; his four daughters and one son: Catrin (Mike) Dunleavy of Chesterfield, VA, Susan (Arif) Qureshi of Listowel, ON, Kathleen (Dave) Boys of Dorval, QC, Bailey Underwood-Doe of Toronto, ON, and Gilbert Underwood- Doe of Halifax, NS.

 

Kent was predeceased by his former wife, Nan Doe; daughters, Tanis Doe, formerly of Victoria, BC, and Ann Karen Doe. Kent is also survived by his two sisters, Maureen (David) Taylor and Betty Jane (Keith) Lancaster.

 

Kent's memory will live on through his 10 grandchildren: Megan (Jake), Mikey, Joe, AnnMarie, Riaz (Stephanie), Corinne (Scott), Emily, Alex, Evelyn, and Rebecca; and 3 great-grandchildren: Zola, Asa, and Eleanor.

 

Not to be forgotten, are his much-loved nieces and nephews; and his Underwood family, Robert, Wendy and Amy.

 

A person of great faith, he served as an Anglican priest in the Ottawa and Toronto Dioceses. Kent was an active and influential figure in every community he touched.

He was known as a generous and thoughtful individual, who helped everyone and anyone, without hesitation. Kent loved his family deeply and was immensely proud of all his children.

 

The funeral service will be held at St. George's (Round) Church, 2222 Brunswick Street, Halifax, on Saturday, February 10th, at 11 a.m., with reception to follow. The Reverend Nicholas Hatt and the Very Reverend Paul Smith officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wee Care Developmental Centre, an organization very near and dear to Kent's heart, weecareforkids.ca.
