Letters JohnLETTERS, John Leo David Letters  -  In his 78th year, passed peacefully at his home in Toronto, Ontario, on January 12, 2024.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, John Glynn (Jack) Letters and Elizabeth (Bette) Veronica Duncan.

 

John was born on January 6, 1947, in Toronto. John attended St. James/St. Pius School, Michael Power High School and St. Michael's College, University of Toronto, where he earned a four-year honours Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree.

 

John began his teaching career in 1972 at Corpus Christi School, then moved to St. Denis School, and finally St. David School, after which John retired in 2002.

 

Throughout his career, John was the OECTA Union Representative for his fellow teachers, being awarded the Staff Rep of the Year for Toronto/East York Regions in 2000. John also had a home in Wasaga Beach.

 

John also served on the St. Patrick/St. Noel Chabanel Church Council in Stayner and Wasaga Beach.

 

John will be remembered by his cousins, Joseph (and Sheila) Duncan, Paul (and Shirley) Duncan, Peter Duncan, Jane (and Arthur) Biffis, and their families. John was predeceased by his cousin, Chris Letters.

 

John will also be missed by his friends, especially Brian Brenie, Rev. Brent Hawkes, John Sproule, Dave Lyons, CJ Pinto, Don (and Jane) Grant and Mikk Jerkavits.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held for John on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto, 115 Simpson Avenue, Toronto, ON M4K 1A1 (416-406-6228).

 

This church is in the Riverdale area of Toronto, with on-street parking nearby.
