DARRAS, Florent Edouard - Passed away peacefully, at the age of 90, on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Humber River Hospital in Toronto.
Born in Aubigny, France, in January 1934, Florent grew up near the city of Amiens.
He served in the French Air Force for four years and was stationed in Morocco before immigrating to Canada in 1957.
He graduated from the Radio College of Canada in Toronto in 1962 and was a long-term employee of Litton Systems Canada in Rexdale.
He travelled extensively in Canada and internationally for work and vacation. He brought his love of cycling to Canada and continued riding into his early 80s.
He was proud to have completed the Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour, the Paris-Brest-Paris event, and the Raid Pyrénéen. He was a member of the Radio Amateurs of Canada and maintained his Morse code skills throughout life.
He retired to Oakville and frequented Bronte Harbour, where he enjoyed sitting on his favourite bench looking out over Lake Ontario. Predeceased by his beloved second wife Helga and his sister Marie-Louise.
He will be missed by his son Glenn and daughter Linda, Helga's daughter Karin and granddaughters Kristina and Andrea, and his nieces Corinne and Laurence in France.
