Marcinek IvanMARCINEK, Ivan Marcinek   -  (42), of Toronto, died March 23, 2024 at Michael Garron Hospital following a battle with cancer.

He was born on March 31, 1981 to Joseph Daniel Marcinek and Maria Tamara Marcinek (Grobov) in North York.

Joe attended Brock University after graduating from Brampton Centennial Secondary School and an amazing, award winning career in baseball and hockey as a child and teenager. He married Sarah Weaver on October 27, 2018 and they had Lily Sophie Marcinek – his greatest joy - in January 2017.

He worked in the Ontario Public Service after returning from teaching in South Korea but his favourite job was being a father to Lily.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, playing a round of golf and going on adventures. He was an avid traveller and always felt the need, the need for speed.

Joe is survived by his wife (Sarah), daughter (Lily), brother (David), mother (Tamara), sister-in-law (Keri), nephew (Max) and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and a tremendous number of friends and colleagues who he touched deeply.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Daniel Marcinek; and his grandparents, Joseph Marcinek Sr., Anna Marcinek, John Grobov Sr. and Marta Grobov.

A private funeral and interment was held by the family. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, April 12th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Reid's Distillery in Toronto.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's honour to Michael Garron Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
