HIGGINS, Lucy Mary - Born on December 21, 1925, Lucy left this world peacefully on December 24th in her 93rd year.

She was the youngest daughter of Maria (Fiore) and Luigi Mastromatteo, originally of Coli, Italy.

The widow of Ken Higgins, Lucy was also predeceased by her siblings Angelina (Mannone), Bill, Rose (DeNino), Cortina (Chorney), Albert, Vera (Mooney), Fred and Lou.

She will be fondly remembered by her surviving siblings, Helena (Scott), Anthony and Carmen, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lucy's talents were many. She was a self-made, successful business woman. Always a central figure in her own large family, she was also involved in the Higgins family.

Lucy was a good listener who spent many hours on the phone connecting with family and friends. She enjoyed sharing happy occasions.

Caring for and/or visiting the sick was a priority for her as was mourning the dead. Her quiet presence among us will be greatly missed.

Special thanks to the staff at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Sunnybrook Hospital for the compassionate palliative care they provided Lucy in her final months.

A private burial and Celebration of Life are planned.
