DAVIS, Peter Graham - Passed away in the early morning hours of January 31, 2018.
Peter was born in London, England on July 17, 1933, the only child of Marie Louise and Henry George Davis.
He went to Highgate School as a boy and then University, graduating as Quantity Surveyor.
At the age of 21 he sailed to Canada, settling in Toronto where he met and married Shirley, who lived in Long Branch.
Peter's job took them to Fort William and Port Arthur, now Thunder Bay, where their son Graham was born. After four years they moved to Winnipeg for a year.
Montreal was next where Peter worked for a year and a half on the British Pavilion for Expo 67, here their second son Brian joined the family.
Their next stop was Marystown, Newfoundland where a shipyard was to be built. In the fall of '67 the family settled in Mississauga.
Peter retired from Kilborn Engineering at the age of 55, as he had always planned to do, he was not idle for long though, and was soon involved in many more volunteer pursuits. He became a volunteer at Trillium Health Centre for many years, eight of which were as an executive on the volunteer board.
He was also on the Building Committee when Trillium Health Centre expanded. He volunteered for 10 years at Sauga Stroke Breakers, 10 years with LitterNot, 12 years as a Captain for the Credit Reserve Association, many years as treasurer of Lyndwood Tennis Club and was heavily involved with Lyndwood United Church. For all his efforts he received the Ontario Senior of the Year Award in 1998.
He realized he had Alzheimer's Disease in his late 60s and bravely fought its onset. He chose to be cremated at the end of his life. He will be sorely missed by all his family, wife Shirley, two sons Graham (Andrea) and Brian (Alison), sister-in-law Irene, niece Elizabeth, nephews, Allan and Douglas.
A Memorial visitation will be held at the Funeral Home of Skinner & Middlebrook Ltd., 128 Lakeshore Rd. E., Mississauga on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Peel.
