LYTLE, William Frederick Alexander  - Died at home on Friday, May 18, 2018 in the loving company of his family.

Beloved friend, husband, father and grandfather, Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years Elizabeth, sons Timothy and Christopher and their spouses Stephanie and Meredith and grandchildren Estelle, Ronan, Sebastian and Elliot.

William was born on November 13, 1925 in Toronto to parents Frederick and Dorothy.

He was the youngest of four siblings, following his sisters Anne, Tad and Esme. Bill shared a warm connection with his nephews Tim, Nick and Patrick Godfrey and nieces Suze and Lucy that would last throughout their lives.

A fourth generation Torontonian, Bill deeply loved the city and surrounding area and particularly Muskoka, where he spent early summers at Balsam Lake.

William was an artist, writer, illustrator, designer and teacher. He received his formative training at Northern Secondary School and later graduated from the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD) and spent time studying abroad in London.

He became a respected teacher of graphic and landscape design, working at Guelph and Ryerson Universities. Bill spent much of his later life enjoying books, red wine, fine scotch and the company of his family.

He will be remembered dearly by friends, family and neighbours for his wonderful sense of humour, creativity, boundless curiosity, intelligence and freedom of spirit.

A private celebration of life will be held for Bill. Donations in William's name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family offers their sincere gratitude to the palliative and personal support teams who provided William with exceptional care and compassion .
