Salivan DinaSALIVAN, Dina Lee  - March 27, 1965 - Toronto, Ontario June 2, 2018 -

Calgary Dina Lee Salivan of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the age of 53 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Dina worked at Coca-Cola in Ontario and moved to Calgary to work in operations at the bottling plant in 1998 and quickly made the West her home with a love for the mountains and way of life.

All who knew her would say Dina was an extraordinary woman with a wicked sense of humour and a love for all animals, two and four legged, as exemplified by her love of German Shepherds and loss of her beloved Sammy in 2017. A force of nature, Dina touched everyone she met with a huge heart, aura and attitude.

She was not an easy woman to forget. Her love for the 70s, seniors, the Golden Girls and good old days was unrivalled. Dina made a massive impact on her community, friends and family during her seven-year battle with cancer when she focused her energies on "Making the World a Better Place".

She created a Pay It Forward campaign where she came up with the idea to will approximately $80,000 to hundreds of people with the request that they use the money for charity or other acts of random kindness.

Instead of carrying out this portion of her Will after her death, she decided to execute the idea in her last few years of life.

The gifts of kindness ballooned in https://www.facebook.com/DinaGivingStories/ as people shared their stories of random acts, giving Dina much joy in her final days. Dina is survived by her mother Norma Salivan and her partner Don White; her brother Gregg Salivan and his partner Stephanie Cox; her nephews Grant, Aiden, Matthew; niece Kirsten and extensive friends in Calgary and Toronto. Dina was predeceased by her father Don.

A service will be held at the York Downs Golf and Country Club at 4134 16th Avenue, Unionville on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Canadian Blood Services and The Canadian Cancer Society.

Special thank you to the angels at Rosedale Hospice and all her amazing Calgary friends who took such special care of her during her long illness, along with her spectacular medical teams of nurses and doctors at Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Rosedale Hospice, Dr. Coulter, Dr. Nixon, Dr. Wu, Dr. Pickering and Dr. Lemieux.
