Pockaj BerniePOCKAJ, Bernie (Bernard)  - July 31, 1965 - June 6, 2018

Bernie passed away peacefully at Niagara Health Centre just three weeks after being diagnosed with stage four cancer.

His short yet brave battle ended without pain, surrounded by his family listening to the tunes of Queen and Blue Oyster Cult, just how he would have wanted.

Bernie is survived by his mother Marija, brothers Branko (Suzanne) and Stan (Lina) and his sister Rose Damaso (Ed) as well as nine nieces and nephews, one great-nephew and soon-to-be-born great-niece.

Bernie was raised in Collingwood and Toronto, Ontario but most recently found home in St. Catharines, Ontario. He worked hard, lived simply and did his best to take care of his loved ones. His life was made rich with memories of big family gatherings and camping trips across the province with special connection to the family lot in Buckhorn.

He was a proud uncle who made sure every child received their very own Bernie Bear and a huge part of his heart. He will be remembered for his appreciation of life's simple joys like classic cartoons, sharing his signature recipes with loved ones and giving a good pat to the family pets.

Friends and family are invited to join in a Celebration of Life at Club LaSalle, 111 Arthur St. in St. Catharines on Sunday, June 24th from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Donations can be made in his honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.
