Purgay RudolphPURGAY, Rudolph   - May 25, 1928 - November 26, 2018

It's with great sadness to share that Rudolph "Rudi" Purgay, 90 years old, Toronto, Ontario, Canada died Monday, November 26, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Dealing with various health issues over the past year particularly related to his heart, Rudi finally succumbed to pneumonia, passing peacefully with his loving wife, Lidia by his side.

Rudi was born on May 25, 1928 in Deutschfeistritz, Styria, Austria and immigrated to Canada in 1953 where he met his wife, Lidia Rose Holya in 1958, they married in 1960 in Toronto.

They gave birth to their only child, Gerald Walter Purgay, in 1960, who they raised in Toronto.

A decent, loyal, hardworking man who always put his family first Rudi, will be deeply missed by his wife, Lidia Purgay of Toronto and son, Gerald Purgay, daughter-in law, Denise Bloodgood, grandsons Ryan Purgay, Michael and Robert Tash and granddaughter Rebecca Tash of Westport, Connecticut, cousin Linda Purgay and husband Herald Herrnstadt of Vancouver, brother-in-law Tibor Holya of Kallo, Hungary along with family members in Deutschfeistritz and Graz, Austria with whom he had close ties to: Johanna, Angela, Rosana and Kurt, Beate and Harald Purgay, Sieglinde and Joachim Egger, Grete Steinscherer (and all of their children).

He was predeceased by his mother, Christine Purgay, father, Rudolf Weber, aunts, Augusta Hofer, Eli Purgay and Franziaka Purgay, cousins, Otto, Max, Karl with Grete and Helmut Purgay.

Lidia and Gerald Purgay express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the physicians and staff at St. Joseph's Hospital and Runnymede Health Care Centre for their compassion and care in looking after Rudi.

A service will be deferred to a future date.
