RYAN, Desmond "Des" Patrick - It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the loss of this life well lived.
Beloved father of Alison and loving partner to Patricia, he leaves behind his eldest daughter Diana, brother Ray and wife Molly, sister Rosemary and husband Bob and will now be reunited with his son, Kevin, in God's embrace.
His energy, affection and mentoring, will also be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews and their children.
Born in Toronto, Des valued his Irish Catholic roots but in later years spent time with his partner Patty at her Presbyterian church in Florida.
A wonderful cook, he would bring people together with good food, good wine, and good conversation. In his youth he enjoyed hockey and rally car racing.
Later he enjoyed travelling, tennis, alpine skiing well into his 60s and even sailing into his 80's.
What he loved most in life, was connecting with people and having engaging discussions with friends and family. His eternal optimism and zest for life is his lasting gift to all who knew him.
Des' life was cut short by COVID-19 so we ask you to keep all those suffering during this pandemic in your prayers.
