MacDonald EwenMacDONALD, Ewen - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ewen on May 27, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Betty.

Cherished father of Ramsay and Mary Pine, Hector and his wife Shawn, Ken and Holly Wardlow, and Shona Bourguignon. Loving Grandfather of Chris (Norma), Scott, Alison (Sandy), Gillian, Shelbi (Mike), Logan, and Megan. Great-Grandfather of Dani-Lyn, Leighton, Brody, Zoey and Mila.

Cherished brother of Agnes (Scotland) and Emily (England), and predeceased by his brother Ronny and sisters Gladys, Grace, and Flora.

Ewen enjoyed a long and adventurous life. After joining the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), he served in Korea, the Suez Canal Zone, and was seconded to the Arab Legion for 3 years in, what was then, Trans-Jordan. After immigrating to Canada in 1966 he had a successful career with the Brampton Police Department and then, on its inception, with Peel Regional Police.

In retirement he set off with Betty on extended road trips that covered most of North America. He enjoyed playing badminton at the Flower City Seniors' Centre and rounds of golf with his friends at the Acton Golf Club. Ewen was active in the community and was a longtime member, and served as President, of the Rotary Club of Brampton South, the British-Canadian Club, the Probus Men’s Club of Brampton, and the Georgetown Highland Games Committee.

Ewen will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends in Canada and Scotland.

Arrangements entrusted with Scott funeral home, Brampton chapel. In light of the current global pandemic with the present restrictions placed on group gatherings, and in consideration of the health and well-being of everyone, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. A memorial will be held at a later date and in accordance with public health guidelines.

In loving memory of Ewen, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Peel, or to the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church “Food Bank” would be appreciated by the family. Donations to the Food Bank can be made online at www.standrewsbrampton.ca. Please indicate “DONATION INTENDED FOR THE FOOD BANK” in the message box.
