CINQ-MARS, Gregory Paul Cinq-Mars
March 7, 1956 - March 4, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Greg Cinq Mars, in his 70th year. Greg was a man of remarkable talent—skilled in woodworking, construction, mechanics, and able to fix just about anything. His garage was truly his second home, filled with ongoing projects, tools, car races on TV, loud music, games of darts, and an open door for friends and family.
Greg and Joy built a beautiful life together. Growing up mainly in Markham in the 1970s, they shared countless adventures—traveling to incredible places, spending winters in Florida, attending unforgettable concerts, camping, cottaging, boating, and later enjoying the peace of living on a lake. Greg especially loved his walks through the Minden neighbourhood, always making time to greet friends, dogs, and the occasional cat—many of them known by name.
Greg was a dedicated Hydro Linesman and Instructor, beginning his career at Richmond Hydro and later Powerstream, where he worked for 30 years before enjoying 15 years of retirement.
He was the beloved husband of Joy (née Dunham), with whom he shared 50 years together and 39 years of marriage. Greg was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Bob Cinq Mars. He is survived by his siblings Charles Cinq Mars, Cathy Andrews (Tim Fitzgerald), and Marc (Fran) Cinq Mars, and will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be announced at a later date.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care provided by Dr. Darren Gilmour, Brenda Hollands, and the emergency doctors and staff at Haliburton Hospital.
Memorial Donations to the Snowflake Meadows Rescue (cheques only) would be appreciated by the family and can be arranged through the Gordon A. Monk Funeral Home Ltd., P.O. Box 427, Minden, Ontario K0M 2K0.
