With tremendous sadness & broken hearts we announce the passing of Nancy May Nancy Hodgins in the early morning hours on April 4th, 2026 at the age of 69. Nancy passed peacefully surrounded by her family just like she always was in life. Nancy is survived by her devoted husband Doug Hodgins married for 52 years and together since they were 14 years old. Nancy was the most loved and cherished mother to her 4 children Matthew (Heather) Hodgins, Jason (Laura) Hodgins, Melissa (Ken) Harris and Amber (Mike) Maure. She was the proudest grandma & great grandma to her many grand-kids Alex (Dan), Sam (Nate), Jacen, Maddie (Hunter), Kasey, Peter, Indy, Teddy (Kassie), Jack, Cameron, Josh, Marshall, Jordan, Nathaniel (Karly), Melaina, Matthew and her great grandkids Rian, Amelia & Ben, Nova & Raelyn. Also survived by her siblings Gayle (Jerry) Lefebvre, Sue (Andy) Dale, Bill (Tess) Stafford, Sheryl Stafford and so many nieces and nephews that loved her and showed up for her. Nancy was pre-deceased by her parents who she loved and missed every day.
Jack Stafford in 1987 and Frances Stafford in 2022 and most recently her brother Daniel Stafford in 2025. Nancy was a force of nature and her creative talents knew no bounds. Her hands were never still. She was a baker, amazing cake decorator and founder of HodgePodge Cakes, seamstress, paper crafter and just extraordinary in every way. Nothing made Nancy happier than being with her family. She loved family game nights, as chaotic and loud as they were. She would call her kids over for a quick game of Dr. Mario that would last until 2 or 3 in the morning. βJust one more gameβ was her famous line.
She was always up for a weekly family dinner and marbles game with Doug and the kids, poker nights, crib with Doug after dinner and movie nights- as long as there was popcorn. She loved ladies lunches with her friends and sisters, visiting her brother and she never turned down a chance to run to the slot machines. Nancy will be forever remembered as a bigger than life person who loved with her whole heart and her giant soul touching hugs. The impact she made on so many peoples lives and celebrations through her generosity and kindness was larger than everyone knew, and she will be so missed and never forgotten by all the lives that she touched. Family and Friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday April 7, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with an interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
