SMITH, Jeffery Thomas Smith
June 3, 1964 - April 18, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffery Thomas Smith at the age of 61 on April 18, 2026 at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, ON. Jeff was pre-deceased by his parents Ross and Karen Smith and is survived by his spouse Karen Barrill, brother Eric (Lisa), mother-in-law Yvonne, sisters-in-law Barbara (Don) and Cheryl (Ross), brothers-in-law Don (Lori) and Brian. Jeff also had many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he adored. Jeff grew up in Sarnia and attended Northern Collegiate where he graduated with honours. Afterwards, he attended Queenβs University in Kingston, ON graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. Jeff enjoyed growing up in Sarnia and hanging out with his school buddies and getting into mischief. He was a good athlete and played soccer, football, hockey and golf. The Annual Smith Family Golf Tournament was a highlight of the year for Jeff. He liked to ski and was lucky enough to take a ski vacation in Kitzbuhel, Austria as a teenager. Later in life, Jeff enjoyed RVing/camping, fishing and swimming along the beautiful beaches of the Bluewater Shores of Lake Huron. Jeff and Karen lived in heart of downtown Toronto for more than 25 years before returning to Jeffβs hometown of Sarnia. Together, they loved to travel with trips to Yangon, Myanmar, Paris FR, Prague CZ, London UK and throughout the provinces of Eastern and Western Canada, Cancun MX and the Southern States of USA. Jeff also loved to celebrate and decorate for Christmas, Halloween and Easter. In childhood, he wrote stories about the forest, birds and the squirrels. Cats were the pet of choice, and they could do no wrong in his eyes. The family would like to thank the dedicated and compassionate doctors, nurses, PSWs and staff at Bluewater Health for their non-stop care and support. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Canadian Heart & Stoke Foundation in Jeffβs memory (cheques only at the funeral home please).
