SORENSEN, Penny Sorensen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Penny Anne Sorensen (née Wilson) of Chatham, Ontario. Penny passed away peacefully at University Hospital in London, Ontario, on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born on September 21, 1961, in Chatham, Ontario, Penny was the beloved daughter of the late Patrick (2010) and Marilyn (1995) (née Nead) Wilson.

She was predeceased by her husband Mogens Sorensen (2006).

Penny is survived by her sons Keenan (John) Wilson and Shawn (Coral) Dixon; her cherished grandchildren Tayla, Jayden, Kaydence, Maylyn and Dayten; and her siblings Kevin Wilson, Laurie (Robert) Black, Donna Wilson, Christine (Robert) Barber, and Bonnie (Jeff) Rice.

She will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She spent most of her life in Espanola before returning to Chatham, where she worked as a skilled and caring barber for many years. She was part of community programs and  mentored countless people, offering hope, guidance, and practical aid to anyone who reached out. Her commitment in helping others was a defining part of her life and legacy. Penny will be remembered for her warm heart, her steady presence, and the quiet strength she gave to so many. Her gentle spirit and quick smile touched everyone who knew her.

Family to receive friends at the funeral home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
