STENTAFORD, Gerald Stentaford

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald “Gerry” Stentaford, who left us peacefully on July 10, 2026, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 75. He was surrounded by the love and comfort of his family during his final days.
Gerry was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and spent his early childhood years growing up in Heart’s Content. In 1965, his family’s journey took him to Long Island, New York, where he spent his formative years. Gerry always spoke incredibly fondly of his youth in Long Islandβ€”a special chapter of his life filled with cherished memories, adventures, and friendships that he carried with him forever.
In his youth, Gerry was remarkably athletic and lived life with active energy. He loved wrestling and lacrosse, sports that shaped his strong work ethic early on. He also fell in love with the ocean, spending countless sun-drenched days surfing the waves at Jones Beach, a place that held a very special place in his heart.
Gerry was a vibrant personality who truly loved the simple pleasures of life. He could often be found with the radio playing in the background, keeping him connected to the world, current events, and the music he enjoyed. Gerry’s greatest joy came from visiting family. He treasured every moment spent catching up, sharing stories, and being in the company of the people who mattered most to him.
He was the beloved and devoted husband of Wendy Stentaford, with whom he shared a life built on mutual love, respect, and love for their children. He was a proud and supportive father to his sons, Aaron Stentaford (and his wife, Emma Stentaford) and Nathan Stentaford, passing down to them his steady strength and values of love and hard work ethic.
Gerry is also survived by his dear sisters, Evelyn Gorus (and her husband, Peter Gorus) and Dianne Stentaford, who will fondly remember their brother’s warmth and the lifelong bonds they shared, especially of their childhoods together. He was a cherished uncle to Evelyn and Peter’s children, Brent, Brad, and Bryan Gorus.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Elizabeth and Ralph Stentaford, who welcome him home.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and compassionate care teams at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their exceptional care, kindness, and support during this difficult time.
