SCHUMACHER, Pauline Louise Schumacher

It is with profound sadness that the family of Pauline Schumacher (nee Oberle) announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Marigold Hospice, at the age of 82.

Born on May 23, 1944, in Walkerton, Ontario, Pauline lived a life defined by compassion, faith, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community. She will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and her lifelong commitment to caring for others.

Pauline Louise Schumacher was the beloved wife of Robert β€œBob” Schumacher for 58 wonderful years, a partnership built on love, faith, friendship, and countless shared memories.

She leaves behind her loving children, Carrie Richardson (Chris), Craig Schumacher (Jennifer), and Caryn Sabine (Craig); and her cherished grandchildren, Emma, Lila, Danika, Zachary, Reid, and Miller, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Rosemary Beange (Allan), as well as many extended family members, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Pauline’s kindness.

Pauline was predeceased by her beloved parents, Leo and Gertrude Oberle.

A dedicated nurse for over 40 years, Pauline began her career at Bowmanville Hospital and later continued serving her community through Lakeridge Health in Bowmanville, Whitby and Oshawa. Nursing was more than a profession to Pauline; it was a calling. She consistently put the health and well-being of others ahead of her own and provided comfort, care, and compassion to countless patients and families throughout her career.

In recent years, Pauline faced a courageous battle with ALS. Despite the challenges the disease presented, she never allowed it to diminish her spirit. She continued to live life with grace, determination, and gratitude, finding joy in time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and many dear friends.

Pauline enjoyed many hobbies and interests throughout her life. She found great pleasure in sewing, knitting, baking, and reading, and especially loved creating handmade gifts and personal keepsakes for family and friends. Even when Pauline’s illness limited her abilities, her thoughtfulness and generosity never faded.

After retirement, Pauline and Bob treasured their winters in Florida, creating years of happy memories together until health challenges prevented them from continuing their travels.

A devoted person of great faith, Pauline was a loyal member of St. Joseph Parish in Bowmanville and the Catholic Women’s League. She found strength, comfort, and purpose through her faith and dedicated herself to parish life, ministry, and many causes that enriched the lives of others. Her quiet acts of service and steadfast faith positively impacted countless people over the years.

Though deeply missed, Pauline’s legacy lives on through the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the example of kindness, resilience, and faith she leaves behind.
