BRAY, Maxine Doreen Bray

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maxine Bray (Gray), who left us peacefully on the morning of July 12, 2026, at the age of 91. She was surrounded by the love of her family in her final moments.

Maxine Doreen Bray was a devoted mother to William (Bill), Darlene (Dolly), Cheryl Anne, Oriana, and Terrance (Terry); a loving grandmother to Alison, Jillian, Ryan, Emily, and Marcelle; and a proud great-grandmother to Meadow, Hailey, Maxwell, and soon-to-be baby Durocher-Lessard, whom she could not wait to meet. She was a beloved Auntie to Hazel, Shirley, Marilyn, and Diane, a cherished great-auntie to many nieces and nephews, and a dear cousin and friend to so many.

Maxine was proud to be born and raised in Alderville First Nation by her father Frank Gray. She later made her home in Toronto where she raised her family. To Maxine family meant more than just blood – she was a Mother and Auntie to many and had a remarkable gift for making anyone under her roof feel as though they belonged.

Maxine found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved watching baseball and hockey, enjoyed trying her luck at the casino or around the euchre table, and treasured every opportunity to spend time with the people she loved. She will be remembered for her fierce spirit, humour and quick wit that always kept those around her laughing.

To know Maxine was to know someone whose love for her family knew no bounds. She lived a life defined by resilience, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She faced life’s challenges with courage and grace that paved the way for her future generations to thrive.

Maxine leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many dear friends whose lives she touched.

Maxine will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly carried in our hearts.
