BROUWER, Theodorus Maria de Brouwer

Beloved father and father-in-law of Larry and Monique, and Mike and Sue. Cherished Opa to Samantha (Kyle) and Matthew (Angela), and proud “Big Opa” to Mikey.

Ted is now reunited with the love of his life, Wilhelmina, with whom he shared 70 wonderful years of marriage.

Ted was the youngest of 6 brothers and two younger sisters, and was the proud son of Theodorus and Maria de Brouwer.

Born in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, on October 29, 1925, Ted immigrated to Canada in 1951 with Wilhelmina to build a new life together. He was a dedicated plumber and pipefitter who took great pride in his work. Ted was also a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 255 (Windsor) for over 40 years.

Ted and Wilhelmina shared a love of travel and created many wonderful memories together, especially during their trips to Florida and Las Vegas.

A devoted sports fan, Ted especially loved hockey and rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on Larry and Mike at their games. Following his retirement, he stayed busy playing golf and enjoyed staying active whenever he could.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Lakeridge Gardens for the compassion, kindness, and support they provided during Ted’s time there as well as Ontario Health at Home for facilitating his transfer to Long Term Care.

Ted will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Visitation will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home, located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario L1J 2L4 on Monday, July 27 2026 from 1:00pm – 2:00pm, followed by a Celebration of Life in the chapel at 2:00pm
