August 3, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Orville (OJ) Johnston on August 3rd, 2026, with his wife of 60 years, Antoinette Johnston (nΓ©e Tardif), by his side.
Loving father of Lynn, predeceased (John Ahlers), Nicole, and Marc (Mary). Cherished grandfather of Ryan Ahlers, Alexander and Connor Johnston. Dear son of the late Eric and Thérèse Johnston. Orville is survived by his sisters Arlene (Bernard Fleming), June Goddard (Gray, predeceased), Jo-Anne, and his brother David (Shelley).
Born in La Reine, QuΓ©bec, he grew up in Capreol, Ontario, and then married and raised his family in Hanmer.Β Orville dedicated 33 years to CN in Capreol, where he worked as a clerk and buyer.Β Following retirement, he and Antoinette made their home in London.Β He enjoyed playing golf, played hockey for many years in the Huff and Puff league, and treasured spending winters together in Florida, where they loved walking on the beach and enjoying the sunshine.
In his later years, Orville found happiness in life’s simple pleasures:Β reading the newspaper, going for walks, and watching his favourite sports.
